How It Works

If you’re wondering how the Mona Assessment and Archetypes work, here’s a straightforward explanation.

How It Works
Inspiration for transformation

Our approach was inspired by Brent Kessel’s It’s Not About the Money. That book was the spark that made me realize we needed a precise, insightful test—much like the MBTI—to capture the global patterns in our behavior. As humans, we naturally replicate patterns shaped by our environment and experiences. After reading that book time and again, I recognized one key missing piece: an assessment that truly reflects our multifaceted nature.

That’s why I created the Mona Assessment. It features 32 carefully crafted statements covering a wide range of behaviors—from spending and saving habits to compulsive buying and more. The number 32 isn’t arbitrary; it’s the ideal balance needed to capture an accurate picture of your financial habits. These statements are designed not as simple questions but as a mirror reflecting your behavior and the core stories that have shaped your early life.

In short, the Mona Assessment blends psychological insight with a practical understanding of our relationship with money. Once you complete the assessment, you’ll receive a report that reveals your dominant archetype alongside the other archetypes within you—much like your unique DNA. These archetypes exist in varying proportions and evolve as you grow. Awareness of these patterns is the first step toward genuine transformation.

Transformation begins from within—change your inner narrative, and your financial world will follow.

Your Journey with Mona

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Standard Report: A clear, honest picture of your current financial patterns and the emotions behind them.
  • Advanced Report: A detailed understanding along with an actionable plan for transformation over the next 3 to 6 months. This plan helps balance the eight archetypes within you so you can adapt to different life situations effectively.

Mona is built to evolve alongside you. We regularly update the assessment to capture new behaviors and patterns, and you’re welcome to retake it as often as you like. While your dominant archetype might remain steady, retaking the assessment every 3 to 6 months allows you to track your transformation and see how your inner journey progresses. Although this interval might seem long, it’s essential for deep, lasting change.
